Usually taking about six months the aftermarket parts become affordable and compete with Apples repair rates. It will take about one year for most of the defects that many aftermarket parts possess to get addressed and corrected.
It doesn’t help when Apple includes something in an iOS update that causes aftermarket parts to dis-function. If you’ve owned an iPhone since the four series and had it repaired by a third-party you know what this means.
